Your JCR

The JCR is two things. The first is the physical common room for students, and the second is the body politic of undergraduate students at Exeter College. All undergraduates of the college are members unless they choose to opt-out, and at Exeter, our JCR is named the Stapeldon Society.
As a body politic we meet fortnightly during term, on Sunday of 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th weeks in the JCR (the room). The agenda for these meetings are determined by the students and anybody can raise issues or have their say. The topics usually relate to the well-being of the student body but anything can be discussed. We are known for being liberal and tolerant, and we certainly do care about what goes on around us and what we can change for the better of all members. Over the past year we’ve changed our constitution, fought for better rents, and got gym membership for the entire JCR.
